let’s hear the client’s report of this Balinese birthday trip

why this location?

The past few birthdays felt a little empty, and I wanted this one to be different. Last year, I promised myself that this year I would truly celebrate. I have wanted to go to Bali ever since reading Eat, Pray, Love years ago and watching the movie several times. I intended for Bali to be more than a vacation. I wanted space to slow down, heal and reconnect with myself.

There’s something about the island’s energy that makes you feel grounded and awakened at the same time.

what was it like working with Well Placed Travel?

Karen asks thoughtful questions about what I wanted this trip to be. She brought it to life even better than I could have imagined. Every detail was perfect. The beautiful hotels, the seamless transfers, the incredible guides, and so many unforgettable experiences. I’m so grateful for her care and creativity and I can’t wait to plan my next adventure with her! France, Spain, Hungary, Morocco, and Japan are on my 2026 list.

What were your favorite experiences on the trip?

There were too many! My top three:

  • One-on-one meditation in an aerial hammock with Fera, a former Buddhist nun

  • Private cooking class with Chef Ong; From garden to table, I learned to make Bali’s “spice of life” and enjoyed an incredible meal by the river.

  • Bucket list sunrise hike on Mount Batur, an active volcano; After a 2:15AM pick up time by my private guide Wayan, we met our local hiking guide, Ketut. The trek began around 3:45AM and it was challenging. The terrain was rocky and at times loose. We reached the summit just as the first light broke through the clouds. Ketut set up a private viewing spot where we sipped hot chocolate and watched the sunrise. It was cold but absolutely magical.

what did you love about the hotels?

The Four Seasons resorts in Sayan and Jimbaran Bay were absolutely incredible.

Four Seasons Sayan felt peaceful and secluded, surrounded by nature’s calm, while Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay opened up to a stunning stretch of beach.

Every detail in the rooms was beautifully thought out, and the infinity pools were thoroughly enjoyed. The staff went above and beyond. They were so kind, attentive, and genuine. And the food… unforgettable. Breakfast at Jimbaran Bay was a highlight, especially the pastry room, my personal favorite!

Split your time between both locations. You will be happy you did.

what should others know about Bali?

Bali is a place that inspires. From lush rice terraces and beautiful beaches to temple ceremonies and local crafts, every moment invites you to slow down and connect. With warm people, immersive experiences, and thoughtful luxury, the island leaves you refreshed, inspired, and ready to see the world a little differently.

tips for travelers?

  • Visit during dry season (April to October).

  • Split your stay between Ubud (rice terraces, temples) and beaches.

  • Respect local customs at temples by coveing your shoulders and wearing a sarong

  • Have your transportation arranged for airport, hotel and any activities.

  • Expect traffic to be close to 2 hours to go anywhere.

  • Have some rupiah for tipping and bring cash to change as a few American banks wouldn’t allow cash withdrawal at ATMs. There are money exchange places all over.

  • Plan lots of activities…cooking classes, spa treatments, activities the hotels offer and catch the sunrise.

Ready to plan a trip that’s as meaningful and memorable as this Bali getaway? Whether you’re craving adventure, relaxation, or a little of both, Well Placed Travel will design a journey that fits you perfectly down to every last thoughtful detail.
