Behind the Scenes: Appearing on ‘The Last Resort’ Podcast
Well Placed Travel was recently featured on Travel Weekly's The Last Resort podcast, discussing two extraordinary luxury properties from recent travels through Australia and New Zealand.
How It Came Together
The podcast appearance was months in the making, beginning with a pitch to host Christina Jelski back in July. After exchanging emails and sharing a detailed itinerary from the 34-day journey through Australia and New Zealand, we scheduled time to connect in October. Tasmania, in particular, hadn't been featured on the show before, making these destinations especially exciting to highlight.
Once back from the trip, we spent several weeks exchanging emails to finalize the details. The preparation involved distilling 17 pages of handwritten notes into responses to the prep questions—a process that took hours but ensured the conversation would capture the most memorable moments. The recording itself was an hour-long session via laptop, and while we faced some technical difficulties with the audio cutting in and out, the final episode turned out beautifully. (There may have been one small slip where "New England" accidentally replaced "New Zealand," but we'll chalk that up to nerves!)
The Conversation
The episode explores what makes Saffire Freycinet in Tasmania and Flockhill Lodge in Canterbury stand out as remote, all-inclusive experiences for travelers seeking something beyond the ordinary.
Both Saffire Freycinet and Flockhill Lodge understand that true luxury isn't just about amenities. It's about creating authentic connections to place, offering experiences you can't find anywhere else, and delivering service that feels genuinely personal rather than scripted.
For travel advisors and luxury travelers looking for something beyond the ordinary, these remote properties represent experiential travel at its finest—where the journey becomes part of the adventure, and the experience itself becomes the destination.
