Highlights, discoveries, and why Well Placed Travel made it unforgettable!

Ireland and Northern Ireland have long been bucket-list destinations for travelers, and Well Placed Travel client and family of four recently returned from a road trip they’re dubbing “one of the prettiest out of the almost 50 destinations we’ve been .” From breathtaking hikes to cozy pubs brimming with live music, this journey offered something for every member of the family—and many reasons to inspire wanderlust.

Happy Clients

When asked about their favorite moments, the unanimous answer was, “All of it!” But there were some highlights that stood out. The kids loved the Dingle Peninsula hike, showing off their skills on golf day in Killarney, exploring the legendary Giant’s Causeway, and soaking up the atmosphere in Ireland’s iconic pubs. Mom and Dad’s list looked strikingly similar. After all, what’s not to love about live music, stunning landscapes, and endless opportunities for laughter?

Belfast Treasures

The family’s journey was peppered with delightful discoveries. In Belfast, they were wowed by their “swanky” stay at The Fitzwilliam Hotel, complete with an upgraded corner room, amenities and exceptional service from the staff. They stumbled upon Jailhouse Coffee tucked away in an alley—a charming spot with great brews. The Titanic Museum and the legends of the Giant’s Causeway added a touch of history and fun to the itinerary.

Galway Adventures

Galway was a highlight of the family’s road trip. They enjoyed an e-bike tour through the lively city and their stay at Glenlo Abbey Hotel, where they played chess and sipped cocktails in the converted abbey lounge. Though the unique Pullman Dining Cars weren’t open, they still appreciated the setting. On the way to the Cliffs of Moher, they visited Hazel Mountain Chocolate, Ireland’s only chocolate maker, and loved the iced chocolate drinks. Dining in Galway was memorable, with Kai restaurant standing out for its exceptional food.

Exploring Dublin: A Vibrant Capital

The capital city of Dublin offered a mix of history, culture, and bustling energy. The family explored Trinity College and its renowned Long Room Library, home to the Book of Kells, a masterpiece of medieval art. Strolling through the cobblestone streets, they enjoyed vibrant pubs, live music, and delicious Irish dishes. At the National Leprechaun Museum, they learned more about Irish folklore, although the experience wasn’t quite what they expected—it still added a whimsical touch to their trip.

The Guinness Storehouse was a highlight, especially the Academy Tour where they poured their own beer and enjoyed 360-degree views of Dublin from the Foredeck Bar. As a family, they even competed to “split the G” in their Guinness pours—a fun challenge that made the visit memorable!

Why Ireland and Northern Ireland Are Worth the Trip

Beyond the bucket-list stops, the family was struck by the rich history and incredible scenic beauty of the region. Whether surrounded by rolling green hills or standing on dramatic coastlines, the landscapes were nothing short of magical. Add to that the famously friendly locals, and the destination easily earned a high spot on their list of favorites.

One part of their trip that stood out was the seamless planning facilitated by Well Placed Travel. The agency found excellent hotels, built out a thoughtful itinerary, and tailored details to match the family’s unique travel style. “Very easy to work with,” they added, praising the team's ability to understand their preferences and create a trip filled with activities they love most.
