As graphic designers, this husband and wife duo are always looking to add more stamps to their passports.

“Travel has become an integral part of our creative process - we set aside time at the beginning of each year to book a trip somewhere we’ve never been and stay there for at least one month. This year, we’re trying two. It’s our way of gathering raw creative material in unexpected places and returning home with fresh experiences that add texture to our ideas and perspectives.”

Well Fed, a meal

Buenos Aires, Argentina

An all-night birthday celebration with a dizzying amount of company, complete with a multi-course vegan dinner prepared by Argentine-Japanese chef and actress Débora Nishimoto

Well Designed, a mastery

Tilework, Portugal

Equal parts art and history, the tiles create a visual rhythm across the exteriors of old churches, homes and subway stations. We loved popping our heads into little shops to see tilemakers hard at work.

Well Played, a fun activity

Huacachina, Peru

Peru’s geography is incredible. We explored cloud-wrapped Machu Picchu; went piranha fishing in the Amazon; and in the desert of Huacachina, we drove dune-buggies and rode sandboards. These experiences were only an hour flight from the other.

Well Intentioned, a surprise

Visiting Thailand on a whim, not realizing that it would be 105+ degrees or a national holiday: Songkran, marking the Thai New Year; each year celebrates with a friendly, city-wide water fight. Everyone had squirt guns and buckets of water to dump on each other. As foreigners, we were major targets so we bought super soakers and joined in on the fun.

Well Placed: A Happy Client

Well Placed Travel worked with this adventurous family of four headed to a private island a 2-hour boat ride from the Belize coast.

“We love the outdoors and spending time in slightly less traveled places. Being on an island 50 miles from the mainland is a unique experience, and the ability to kayak and snorkel every day is something that typically involves a lot of planning. With this all built into the trip, we knew that every day would have something wonderful to offer.”

Mom and Dad appreciated that the children had their own tent and could be independent in a special way. They loved exploring with the kids and early morning nature walks to see frigate birds in the tree tower. The kids agreed that the bird tower was “really cool” as well as night snorkeling, kayak sailing and having a beach all around.

As for their experience with Well Placed Travel, they kindly shared:

“Karen is an excellent communicator. Her skills helped manage the Caribbean and stateside portions of the trip. She let us know what to expect for food, activities and daily routines and helped plan outside activities. She clarified parts of the process that were not obvious to us, such as transfers and airline ticket nuances.”
